Our vision for racial equality in GCHQ

We’ve set out our plan to ensure we have the right mix of minds to deliver our mission

Our mission to help protect the UK will only be successful if we bring the right mix of minds to all aspects of our work. We aim to reflect the full spectrum of the UK's ethnic diversity, at all levels in our organisation.

We have made some progress towards this goal already but by 2030 we’re determined we will be more reflective of the UK's ethnic diversity and at all levels in our organisation. We will build on our existing work to ensure we:

  • attract more ethnic minority talent from across the country;
  • further enable our ethnic minority colleagues to flourish in an inclusive environment;
  • be a truly racially inclusive organisation and take individual and collective action If we ever encounter behaviours that do not fit with our values; and
  • ensure ethnic minority colleagues always feel:
  • their difference is welcomed and valued;
  • their contributions are recognised and rewarded; and
  • our systems and processes give them an equal chance of success and of reaching the highest levels of our organisation.
