RIAT was 'out of this world' this year!

Thousands of people visited our stand in the Techno Zone to try their hand at our interactive STEM games, and learn more about GCHQ.

As part of the air show's "Air & Space" theme, British astronaut Major Tim Peake visited the Techno Zone on Friday to help inspire the next generation. It was great to welcome him to our stand where he met our volunteers and tried his hand at a few of our challenges.

We were also delighted that members of the Red Arrows Aerobatic Team took time out of their busy display scheduled to come to our stand to meet some of our volunteers and young visitors. It was also an opportunity to thank them for their spectacular 'Centenary Flypast' during the recent visit to GCHQ of HRH The Prince of Wales. RIAT was their final public display before they leave for their Northern American tour.

A total of 245 aircraft from 39 air arms, representing 25 nations, took part in the event, which attracted around 170,000 visitors over three days.

It was an amazing experience, and thanks as ever to our enthusiastic team of volunteers.
