GCHQ National Language Competition crowns its winners
We are delighted to announce the winners of our National Language Competition 2022
After an outstanding effort from all teams and schools over the course of last week, we are delighted to announce that the winners of GCHQ’s National Language Competition 2022 are Kiana, Hanrong, Ryan and Roy from The Perse School in Cambridge! The runners up were two teams from King Edward’s School in Birmingham.
Congratulations also to the highest ranked teams across the regions of the UK:
Northern Ireland - St Malachy’s College in Belfast;
Scotland - Carluke High School in Carluke, South Lanarkshire;
Wales - Ysgol Gymraeg Gwynllyw in Pontypool, Torfaen.
Many congratulations to all our winning teams. The Perse School will shortly be invited to GCHQ’s Headquarters in Cheltenham to collect their National Language Competition 2022 trophy.
The competition was fierce all week with teams from more than 650 schools across the UK putting their language skills to the test and battling it out for the top spot on our leaderboard. It was a closely fought race right up to the very end with teams pulling out all the stops to crack those codes and solve those language puzzles!
Thank you very much to all the teams and schools who took part. We hope you enjoyed competition week as much as we did, and hope this has inspired you to keep learning languages and to even think about trying some new ones!
