GCHQ wins Government Smarter Working Award

On Tuesday 26 February, GCHQ won the Technology award at the Government's Smarter Working Awards.

The Government Property Agency's Smarter Working Awards are held annually to recognise success in transforming the way the Civil Service works.

The awards have been held since 2015, and this year GCHQ were successful in reaching the finals in two of the five categories; 'Technology' and 'Smarter Working Together'.

This year's event was sponsored by BT and held at the iconic BT Tower in London. It was opened by the Cabinet Office's Minister for Implementation, Oliver Dowden MP CBE, who noted how smarter working is now part of government policy, and outlined the Government Estates Strategy that sets out clear ambitions to be achieved by this parliament.

With a total of 45 applications across five categories, each category was whittled down to three finalists, who each gave a five minute presentation before the winners were announced, with GCHQ being presented with the Technology award.
