Director GCHQ discusses 'generational upheaval' of global security

Director GCHQ Sir Jeremy Fleming delivers a speech on how global security faces a period of “generational upheaval” in the face of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the rise of China.

The head of the UK’s intelligence, cyber and security agency outlined how President Vladimir Putin has “massively misjudged” the capabilities of his own military, the resistance and resolve of the Ukrainian people and the strength and unity of the West’s response.

Speaking in Canberra at the Australian National University, he also warned that China’s goals would not be well served by closer alignment with Russia and could constrain its role on the world stage in the future.
