The #GCHQChristmasChallenge is here!

To take part in the #GCHQChristmasChallenge, download the schools resources at the bottom of this page and get involved on social media on Monday, 13 December.

On Monday, 13 December we will be releasing our annual Christmas card, from Director GCHQ, Sir Jeremy Fleming.

Each year the card contains a Christmas brainteaser, only this time there’s a twist as the seven fiendish puzzles have been specially designed for 11 to 18-year-olds.

We’re encouraging secondary schools and colleges up and down the country to take part in the #GCHQChristmasChallenge which takes place on Monday, 13 December. The Challenge aims to persuade more young people to take an interest in STEM subjects and consider future careers in STEM and the intelligence services. 

Ahead of Monday, we’ve provided a resource pack below to help schools prepare which includes the Challenge itself, a hints sheet for teachers and printable certificates. Students can also choose to print a copy of the challenge to take home to challenge their families over the festive period. Director GCHQ, Sir Jeremy Fleming has also recorded a special good luck message.

We’re encouraging schools to share their progress on social media using the hashtag #GCHQChristmasChallenge. Don’t forget to tag us on Twitter or Instagram as we’ll be providing hints and tips throughout the day. Please refrain from posting any content on social media until the day of the Challenge - Monday, 13 December.
