Director’s Christmas Card Puzzle 2019

To build on the success of the weekly GCHQ puzzles, based on the ingenious pair of GCHQ Puzzle Books, the organisation’s mix of minds have combined to set a festive conundrum. It combines a codebreaking message and a classic Sudoku theme, and might need your family’s very own mix of minds to solve it this Christmas.

Director of GCHQ Jeremy Fleming each year sends a Christmas card puzzle to colleagues and partners across the world. You can have a go yourself by downloading it below and following these simple instructions:

-       Download and print the 2019 Christmas Puzzle

-       Work out the message that snakes its way through the snowflake

-       Colour in the snowflake so that each circle of six hexagons surrounding a grey hexagon uses each of the six colours once

-       Work out the significance of the coloured snowflakes – you might need a ruler!

-       Tweet @GCHQ with your answer and what our hidden message is!
