Blue Peter launches Enigma Competition to mark GCHQ’s Centenary
We’re delighted to be working with Blue Peter during our Centenary year as they launch a competition for young codebreakers
To mark GCHQ’s Centenary in November 2019, Blue Peter has launched ‘Enigma’ - an exciting new competition giving three lucky viewers the chance to win the trip of a lifetime to GCHQ.
The competition winners will go behind-the-scenes at our top secret headquarters – known as ‘The Doughnut’ – in Cheltenham, and will also get to go on a puzzle-solving adventure across central London.
The competition explains our origins, what we do on a day-to-day basis and how we protect the UK from a variety of threats. We hope it will inspire a love of puzzles and codes, which have long been associated with our unique work.
To be in for a chance at winning this incredible prize, viewers need to design a poster marking our 100th anniversary and hide the word ‘Enigma’ in it using a code.
UPDATE: The closing date for this competition has now passed, and there have been an incredible number of entries received. Keep a close eye on the GCHQ Digital Channels, and by watching Blue Peter on CBBC at 5.30pm every Thursday for updates as the winning entries will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Prizes
The three winners will get to visit our headquarters in Cheltenham and take part in a puzzle-solving adventure in London. They’ll also receive a Blue Peter Orange competition badge as well as a framed copy of their winning entry.
The top 30 entries that go through to the second round of judging will receive a Blue Peter Orange competition badge.
To enter, head to the Blue Peter website, where you’ll also find terms and privacy notice. Entries are open until noon on Wednesday 2nd October 2019.
