GCHQ takes part in the Big Bang Science Fair South East
The fair is part of a nationwide programme and attracted more than 8000 students between 9 and 19 years old and their teachers from across the South East region.
For the second year running, we took part in the Big Bang Science Fair South East at the South of England Showground in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, on 29 June.
The team took along a selection of interactive games and activities designed to test maths and problem solving skills as well as one of their new activities, 'Cyber Squad'. This is a tablet-based game for four players, who as members of the 'Cyber Squad', have to work together against the clock to prevent a cyber-attack on the system. It can get quite noisy!
Ototo, a commercial product that uses music to introduce basic electronic concepts, was particularly popular with younger children who were amazed at the 'musical fruit'!
The event was extremely busy and the team were kept on their toes all day; they enjoyed meeting the students and were most impressed by their energy, enthusiasm, and enquiring minds. We look forward to taking part again next year.
