Minister for the Cabinet Office (MCO) with responsibility for the UK Cyber Security Strategy, Matthew Hancock, visited GCHQ today.

MCO received a series of in-depth briefings and met staff to discuss the work that GCHQ currently does to build and support the UK's Cyber Security capability.

MCO heard about the vital importance of the continued focus on partnerships with industry and academia and the work that the agency does in fostering talent through its apprenticeship schemes.

The Minister also visited the recently avowed Centre for Cyber Assessments to understand the challenges they face in producing cyber threat assessments for government departments.

Speaking after his visit the Minister said:

"We rely on our intelligence agencies to keep our country safe. The work they do is vital and often unheralded.  We should be rightly proud of them. Seeing first hand the breadth of work against countering cyber threats to our nation only confirms my support of their crucial mission."
