GCHQ's a welcome surprise at regional Big Bang Fairs
News article - 1 Jul 2015
In June, for the first time, we supported two regional Big Bang Science and Engineering Fairs (part of the nationwide Big Bang programme) – Big Bang South East at the University of Exeter and Big Bang South West at the South of England Showground, Crawley.
"Very interesting stalls & career advice. Surprised by the GCHQ stand, & good & interesting advice given." - Student at Big Bang
It was great to be with a host of other organisations all with one aim: bringing science and engineering to life for young people. Big Bang South West attracted around 2,000 school visitors; the GCHQ stand was a welcome unexpected surprise and we enjoyed a brisk business on the games and activities all day.
Around 7,000 students visited Big Bang South East and their enthusiasm and interest remained undimmed despite searing temperatures on the day. We hope that the school children were inspired by their visit to these events and were able to discover more about potential career paths.
