GCHQ supports The Times Cheltenham Science Festival

Last Updated: 21 Jun 2017
We were proud to take part in the Science Festival again this year.

This year Cheltenham Science Festival celebrated its 15th birthday and GCHQ has been supporting the event in a variety of ways almost since its inception.

The Science Festival attracts visitors from around the UK and many high profile speakers. Our stand was in the Discover Zone of Cheltenham Town Hall where there was a wide variety of displays and demonstrations to interest visitors of all ages - and the Prime Minister made a surprise visit too. Our own interactive games brought out the competitive spirit in many of our visitors - whether it was trying to stop a virus infecting your hard drive or race against the clock to solve a series of maths questions and win a prize. Others enjoyed the memory game challenge  and 'chatting' to  'R2D2'. It was a pleasure to meet so many engaged youngsters and hopefully inspire them to think about science as a career.
