Cheltenham: leisure

At GCHQ we recognise that there's life outside work and that a good balance between work and other commitments and interests makes for a more motivated and effective workforce.

Cheltenham Town Football Club, known locally as 'The Robins', and Gloucester's 'Cherry and Whites' Rugby Football Club, are both popular venues.

If you want to be more than a spectator, Cheltenham's 'Prince of Wales' Sports Stadium and Recreation Centre offer a range of activities for everyone's enjoyment and there are a whole host of other local facilities and clubs to hand. So, whether you actually want to take part or just spectate, there's plenty on offer.

Countryside

If you prefer, you don't have to stray very far to find scenic woodland and valleys. The surrounding landscape provides a wealth of walkways, conservation and designated areas of outstanding natural beauty, including the Cotswold escarpment, Cotswold Way and Royal Forest of Dean, to be enjoyed by all.

Cultural

There are also theatres, ranging from the Victorian splendour of the Everyman's 660 seat auditorium, to the Playhouse - which started life as a spa bath - the Young Arts Centre and Cheltenham Fringe Theatre.

Last, but by no means least, there's the annual 'Picnic in the Park', bands, street entertainment, children's events, pubs, clubs, restaurants and numerous café bars and loads more besides. From Salsa to scenery - it's all here!
