The Cheltenham Festival of Music, Speech and Drama
provides a splendid stage for dancers, choirs, bands (of all types)
and soloist entertainers, while the annual Literature Festival attracts
visitors and speakers from across Europe.
In contrast, the town plays host to one of the most prestigious
racecourses in the country. Cheltenham Racecourse at Prestbury Park
is generally acknowledged as the home of National Hunt racing, with
the Gold Cup being presented in early March, as one of the highlights
in the National Hunt Festival calendar.
The annual Cheltenham Cricket Festival is also enjoyed by many
and is held during the summer months within the beautiful setting
of the Cheltenham College ground.
