GCHQ is looking to recruit a number of people to work in a technological environment in direct support of our core business - intelligence production.

People will be involved in keeping the IT systems operational, providing desktop IT support to users, database management, systems administration and in UNIX and Windows systems support.

One of the greatest attractions of working at GCHQ is that you are likely to become involved in a range of work that is unequalled for its diversity. You will, therefore, have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience across a range of applied technologies in the rapidly changing and advancing fields of IT and communications science.

Most of those engaged in support to operations work in an IT support role and will concentrate on keeping our complex IT systems operational in line with the latest IT Service Management 'best practice'. Incidents and problems must be managed and resolved effectively, and the lessons learned. Database Management is also a large part of this support function and there is the opportunity to specialise in the administration of leading edge Database Management systems. A number of people will have customer facing roles where they will gain an in-depth understanding of GCHQ's core business and an overview of GCHQ's end-to-end processing.
