Our Information and Knowledge Services team leads
the department's strategic approach to information and knowledge
management.
There are over 40 Information Specialists in the team and we use
our professional skills to fulfil a range of services.
In the course of a career here you could find yourself working
within our Knowledge Centre providing accurate and time-sensitive
information services to support intelligence analysis and telecommunications
research, or working with all areas of the department to ensure
business processes reflect the latest thinking on knowledge management.
Equally you could be managing and exploiting web technologies;
ensuring that good information architecture underlies our data storage
or advising on information retrieval tools and techniques.
We're committed to helping you to continue your professional development
and to acquire the skills you need to meet the challenges of the
changing information world. We operate a job rotation policy, so
there would be opportunities to change your duties and try a range
of the types of work we do. Your initial posting would be arranged,
where possible, to take account of your aptitudes and preferences.
You would also have opportunities to take part in other professional
activities inside and outside the Department. Whatever path you
