Photographs taken by employees of GCHQ will soon
be adorning the walls of their new Benhall headquarters following
a successful campaign to brighten up the interior.
After moving house, it normally doesn't take long for the new occupants
to make changes in the décor to reflect their tastes. GCHQ
is no exception and when staff moved in to the new Benhall headquarters,
it soon became clear that parts of the building with little or no
natural light would benefit from the introduction of eye-catching
pictures.
Instead of resorting to commercially-available images to fill wall
space, GCHQ went for the personal touch and launched an in-house
campaign - and the results have been spectacular. According to an
official spokesman: "The response to this campaign has been phenomenal
and shows that our staff really care about their working environment.
We needed about thirty images, particularly for darker areas in
the building, and we received over three hundred entries. Every
image we received was superb and the choice of subject has been
wide and varied, including local landmarks, animals, people, and
scenes from exotic vacations."
Work is now underway to frame the selected images and place them
around the building.
