GCHQ Challenge (July 2005)

This GCHQ Challenge was launched to coincide with National Commemoration Week in July 2005.

To complete the challenge, you will need to find the answers to the anagrams and then work out the hidden message contained in the Solution Grid.

Firstly, solve the following anagrams, which are all things associated with the Second World War:

1 A GINN RIOT (9)
2 AGED HUMOR (4,5)
3 GO DOUBLED (9)
4 MEN CHIME AGAIN (6,7)
5 NAVY ALDERMEN (4,4,4)
6 NETHERLANDS ROSE (8,7)
7 RASCAL TEN (9)
8 REARWARD INDIA (3,4,6)

Now take your answers and write them in the empty boxes, (a) to (h), below. You'll have to work out which answer goes where. For those boxes which are numbered, copy the letter to the Solution Grid to discover how Winston Churchill described Bletchley Park, the home of wartime codebreaking.
