Puzzle 1: answers

a The whole sentence is written backwards. Plaintext is "WELCOME TO OUR PUZZLE PAGES".
b The sentence is split into groups of three letters then each group is written backwards. Plaintext is "THE SPY IS WEARING A BLUE COAT".
c The sentence is split in half, then the letters in the second half are written in between the letters of the first half. Plaintext is "YOU HAVE CRACKED THIS CODE".
d The sentence is split into groups of four letters and a dummy letter inserted in the middle of each group. Plaintext is "WE WILL ATTACK AT SUNSET".
e The sentence is split into groups of three letters (including a couple of dummy letters at the end), and the groups of letters are mixed up (in this case the permutation is 12345678 > 36827514). Plaintext is "THIS MESSAGE IS TOP SECRET".
f The sentence is split into groups of four letters (including a dummy letter at the end), and the middle two letters in each group are swapped round. Plaintext is "NOW YOU CAN MAKE UP YOUR OWN CODES".
